Guillermo Navarro

We are excited to announce that one of our judges will be the Director of the School of Digital Filmmaking at University of the Nations, Guillermo Navarro. Below is Mr. Navarro’s esteemed biography.

Biography

Guillermo Navarro is a multiple award winning writer, director and producer of independent feature films with an extensive and diverse career working in the film and television industry.

In his early years, he travelled to over 25 countries making documentaries. From China to the Sahara desert he accumulated invaluable experience, covering subjects as diverse as street kids, refugee camps and Olympic events.  

As a free lancer he has worked for the Discovery channel, National Geographic, ESPN, HBO, ABC, NBC, CBS, VH1, PBS, HLN, Televisa, Telemundo, Animal Planet and Speed Network among others.

In the educational field, he started the School of Digital Filmmaking, the School of Acting for the Screen and the Applied Filmmaking course at University of the Nations in Hawaii. He is also a founding member of UofN’s "Film Institute".

His work as a narrative filmmaker started 1n 2001 when he participated in the film "To End All Wars" featuring Kiefer Sutherland, Mark Strong and Robert Carlyle.

He then founded "24 frames" an independent filmmaking initiative that has produced over 50 short films earning more than 30 awards at national and international film festivals. In 2008, 24 frames started producing feature films. Guillermo’s first feature film, "Relapse" won four awards including the "excellence in filmmaking award" at the Honolulu international film Festival and the "Silver Remi Award" at Houston World Fest.

24 Frames latest film, "The Land of Eb" premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival and continued its journey through film festivals in Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Seattle, Hawaii, Fiji, St Tropez and others, always with a great response from critics and audiences. 

Recently, Guillermo was awarded the "Best Feature Film Screenplay" award for his screenplay "Separation" at the Latino Screenplay Competition of Hollywood, California.
